G-men @ Nan Chuu 南廚 Ramen Izakaya

The other day I was telling Frank I crave for ramen, I crave for ramen. But didn't wanna travel too far, we decided to eat at G-men. Although I always complain that Richmond doesn't have a very good ramen spot, G-men is not too bad. Especially now that I've tried the super popular and always busy Butcher's Ramen, G-men is definitely somewhere up there too in the Ramen rank.

If I'm not mistaken, Manzo was using the space where G-men is now a super long time ago. I used to visit Manzo so much that coming to G-men reminded me of those old high school times. The shop is very Japanese-ly decorated. You wouldn't think there's anything special to the interior, just another ramen joint, but if you pay close attention, there's quite a lot of space and decor design that went into the renovation.  I like it.

Because I'm the most annoying person in the world. While I was whining I craved for ramen, I ended up ordering their rice bowl.

I mean, just look at this bowl ! Who can resist ? It was essentially just chashu , raw egg, and kimchi on top of rice. But I loved itttt. It reminded me of the school cafeteria lunch I had when I was studying in Japan. Don't get me wrong, it's a compliment! Because Doshisha University's cafe offered super nice and cheap food. OMG I miss it now as I type ! Should have went back there to eat when I visited Kyoto with Frank couple years back !!

Frank, being the uncreative and boring soul as he is, still ordered ramen. Frank is this weird creature who has absolutely no food cravings or strong taste buds. It's bad that he won't be able to introduce me to new restaurants, but it's good that I then get to decide where to eat and what to order all the time ! He's not picky with food, so he agrees to everything. Yay.

G-men's ramen is not too bad. You also can customize your order a little bit by telling them your salt and oil preferences. I like it more than Yah-Yah-Yah
